About Fulkerson Winery

Fulkerson Winery boasts a rich history that dates back to 1805 when Caleb Fulkerson settled on the western slopes of Seneca Lake. Initially a raspberry farm, the property transitioned to grape cultivation in the 1960s. In 1989, Sayre Fulkerson established Fulkerson Winery, and today, his son Steven Fulkerson proudly carries on the family legacy as the seventh generation to work this historic land. The winery's commitment to quality was recently recognized in 2024 at the New York Wine Classic, where their 2023 Estate Syrah Rosé was awarded Best Rosé Wine in New York State.

Fulkerson Winery now produces over 25 varieties of Finger Lakes wines, including less commonly found in the Finger Lakes vinifera varieties like Sauvignon Blanc and Syrah. Among the nearly 11 acres of Syrah in the Finger Lakes, Fulkerson Winery cultivates almost 3 acres, making it one of the largest Syrah plantings in New York State. This vineyard, planted in 2014, is situated on the farthest downslope of the original 1805 farm, further enhancing the winery's connection to its roots.

In addition to their wine offerings, Fulkerson Winery sets itself apart by providing grape juice for home winemaking, resulting in over 13,000 cases of homemade wine produced annually. Known as the “winemakers’ winery,” they offer more than 30 varieties of grape juice for home winemakers. The Fulkerson Farms also features a U-Pick farm where visitors can harvest grapes, apples, cherries, peaches, and asparagus.

When visiting the winery, guests can enjoy standard wine tasting flights, as well as charcuterie and cheeses available for purchase to complement their tasting experience. For those looking to explore the scenic surroundings, Fulkerson Winery offers self-guided vineyard tour walks along 3.5 miles of trails. The trail is open year-round and accessible during standard operating hours. Walking is free, with the main loop covering 1.5 miles and taking approximately 45 minutes to complete, while the entire trail averages around 1 hour and 50 minutes.
