About Dos Cabezas WineWorkS

Since 1995, Dos Cabezas WineWorks has been at the forefront of Arizona winemaking, producing distinctive wines from high-desert vineyards and pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in this rugged landscape. Originally founded in Kansas Settlement by the late Al Buhl—a visionary inspired by Arizona's emerging wine scene—Dos Cabezas began with an 80-acre vineyard and a dream. Buhl’s journey from hobby winemaker to industry pioneer began with a homemade wine that won a blue ribbon at the Arizona State Fair, igniting the passion that would lead to the creation of the winery.

The name Dos Cabezas—Spanish for "Two Heads"—comes from the dramatic twin peaks of the Dos Cabezas Mountains in Cochise County, near the site of their Cimarron Vineyard. Along with the Pronghorn Vineyard in Sonoita, these two estate vineyards now supply the winery with the high-quality fruit that defines its character.

In 2002, Todd Bostock, a Arizona native with a curiosity sparked by UC Davis viticulture classes, joined the winery as an apprentice. With no prior winemaking experience, he found himself thrown into the deep end when the winemaker suddenly left. Thanks to the mentorship of local legends like Kent Callaghan, Bostock dove headfirst into his craft, and within just a few years, he and his family purchased the winery. In 2006, they relocated Dos Cabezas to its current home in Sonoita.

Today, Dos Cabezas WineWorks is a beloved and innovative presence in Arizona’s wine community. Visitors to the Sonoita tasting room are treated to a warm, down-to-earth atmosphere—and some of the best wines in the state. The onsite restaurant serves artisan pizzas that perfectly pair with their wines, making for an inviting and flavorful experience whether you’re dining in or grabbing takeout.

With a foundation rooted in passion, perseverance, and place, Dos Cabezas continues to honor its past while shaping the future of Arizona winemaking—one bottle at a time.
