Owned and operated by Johannes Reinhardt, Kemmeter Wines offers one of the most intimate and personal wine tasting experiences in the Finger Lakes. Johannes, a German-born winemaker with deep roots in viticulture and a passion for storytelling, personally leads each tasting, guiding guests through his thoughtfully crafted wines with genuine warmth and attention.

This is not your typical winery stop—tastings are by appointment only, offered just a few days a week, and limited to six people per session to ensure an unhurried, one-on-one experience. Johannes brings his deep knowledge and hands-on approach to every step of the process—from planting the vines to crafting the final blend—making each visit feel like a private journey through his vineyard and philosophy.

Though Kemmeter built its reputation on exceptional Rieslings—widely considered among the best in the region—Johannes has thoughtfully expanded his lineup to include Pinot Noir, Pinot Blanc, and Gewürztraminer, all estate-grown and planted by hand by Johannes and his small team. These wines are produced in small quantities and sold only through the winery or their website.

For an even more immersive experience, Kemmeter now offers small group vineyard and cellar tours, where guests taste four current releases plus a special pour—either a library wine or a sneak peek from tank or barrel, depending on the season. Each tour includes a savory bite from Sans Dumplings, the onsite dumpling shop run by Johannes’ wife, Imelda. The food is a perfect complement to the wines and can also be enjoyed afterward at one of the peaceful picnic tables overlooking the vineyard.

And don’t miss the SanSan-labeled wines, a rare designation Johannes reserves for the most exceptional vintages—bottlings that capture the soul of a particular grape, site, and season. These wines reflect his belief that winemaking is both art and devotion.
